irssi is a very nice IRC client for Linux and similar platforms. It goes very nicely with FreeBSD
You can find irssi at irssi.org For an excellent overview of why you should use irssi, check out Garion’s irssi features page. (I wrote some of that, you know :)
Scripts
More scripts, including these ones can be found on irssi’s script archive. I think the script archive is slightly out of date at the moment. The versions of my scripts listed here are the definitive latest versions.
- nocaps v1.01: Turns lines of all caps into something much more readable
hideauth v1.10: ircN-style eggdrop password hiding (currently missing)- noticemove v1.02: (May not be working quite right; modification of cras’s script) Moves notices from people into your current window
- whois_controlchars: A quick hack to show control characters (bold, colours etc) in a user’s gecos. (Handy for opers setting XLINEs).
- windowtidy to close empty windows.
I have also contributed to Garion’s excellent HOSC project – a collection of scripts for ircd-hybrid (and ircd-ratbox) opers.

Your HideAuth script is available from the irssi script repo.. http://irssi.org/scripts/scripts/hideauth.pl
